Altar Serving Ministry
Children in grades 4-12, who have received their first Holy Communion, may choose to participate in St. Monica’s Altar Server ministry. This role is a special opportunity to learn more about the Mass while assisting the priest in the Sanctuary.
Parental Approval and Support:
Children must have their parent’s approval and support to participate in the Altar Server ministry. Parents, please carefully read through the expectations as you complete the Altar Server Sign Up form for your child, to make sure that you are able to support your child in this role.
Altar Server Dress Code:
We ask that our Altar Servers follow the
to ensure that they are presentable to be in the Sanctuary during Mass.
Altar Server Mass Expectations: Altar Servers are role models for the members of the congregation. They are assigned specific roles and are expected to behave in a reverent manner. Servers should read the Mass Expectations document to review their responsibilities for when they are scheduled to serve at Mass.
Altar Server Schedule:
Altar servers must commit to serving at least twice a month at St. Monica weekday or weekend Masses. This requirement is to ensure that each server is serving actively and has enough opportunities to practice their roles. A schedule of Altar Server assignments will be provided monthly.
